Altair Pharmaceuticals announced last week that it is voluntarily recalling several of its eye drops and ointments due to concerns of sterility.
The company stated the recall was initiated due to concerns from management “…regarding the sufficiency of Quality Assurance controls over critical systems in the manufacturing facility.”
According to the company, if a product intended to be sterile is not, it “…may result in serious and potentially life threatening infections or death.”
The company said it was recalling over-the-counter products sold under the brand names Equate and Support Harmony (sold only at Walmart), Walgreen’s (sold only at Walgreen’s), and items “manufactured and labeled exclusively for Perrigo Company PLC”.
