Over 62,000 Pounds Of Beef Recalled Days Before Memorial Day Holiday

Before you start grilling those hamburgers, steaks, ribs, and other meats this weekend, make sure they are not part of the most recent beef recall.

Yesterday, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that Aurora Packing Company in Illinois is recalling over 62,000 pounds of beef that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The meat was packages at the Aurora Packing Company in North Aurora, Illinois on April 19, but was shipped to retailers and distributors nationwide.

The products that are being recalled have the establishment number “EST. 788” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The recall includes 46 different products, and includes cuts such as ribeye and skirt steak, ribs, and brisket.

The FDA is concerned that people may have some of the recalled meat in their freezers as people like to freeze cuts for future use.

The possible contamination was discovered after random sample testing during traceback activities.

The USDA has stated there have been no reported illnesses related to this recall.
