Local Organizations Receive Help From Sorority Sisters

This afternoon at the Page Community Center, members from the Beta Mu Sorority gave several donations to organizations within the Page area. This year, the sorority made cash donations to the Page Community Center, the John Wesley Powell Museum, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 9632, C.U.D.D.L.E. Outreach, and the Lake Powell Concert Association.

Marsha Bratcher, the Treasurer for the Beta Mu Sorority chapter in Page presided over the event. Shannon Sparkman accepted the donation for the Community Center’s Meal Program, which will go to provide more meals to some of Page’s most vulnerable population. Cheri Brown accepted the donation on behalf of the John Wesley Powell Museum, and spoke about the museum’s 50th anniversary, and that they are currently changing some of their exhibits in honor of the 150th anniversary of John Wesley Powell’s exploration of Lake Powell. Darrel Moore accepted the donation on behalf of VFW Post 9632, and the donation from Beta Mu will be used to help veterans purchase medical equipment, electric scooters, and vehicle ramps. Linda Dodds accepted the donation for C.U.D.D.L.E. Outreach; Bryan Boston accepted the donation on behalf of the Lake Powell Concert Association.

Beta Mu has been a part of the Page community since 1968. Beta Mu of Page is a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International, which is the largest women’s organization in the world.

The ladies of Beta Mu hold annual events such as Christmas in November, where the proceeds for these donations are collected. Each year, the ladies of Beta Mu Sorority review the organizations in Page and have the difficult job of deciding what organizations will receive donations from the Sorority.
