Officer Involved Shooting in Flagstaff

In a press release, the Flagstaff Police Department state one of their officers fatally shot a man who brandished two knives as two officers were leaving The Guidance Center on an unrelated call.
The subject was identified as Russell Henry Harold, 47 of Boise, Idaho. Harold confronted the officers brandishing the knives. The release states Harold approached one of the officers with the knives raised. The officer commanded Harold to drop the knives, at which point Harold lunged toward the officer, prompting the officer to discharge his weapon.
The officers began providing lifesaving measures until medical personnel arrived.
Harold was transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported. The Northern Arizona Shoot Team is on the scene, with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office taking the lead. This investigation is on-going, and updates will be provided as further information is available.
