Just before 9am this morning, the westbound lanes of I-40 were blocked at mile marker 211 due to an accident. According to the Department of Public Safety, a tanker full of liquid chocolate rolled over, causing the product to spill out across the interstate.
In a tweet, DPS stated the tanker was carrying around 40,000 pounds, or 3,500 gallons of liquid chocolate, which was being kept at 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Traffic was exiting and re-entering the interstate at Winona. The interstate was reopened just after 1pm this afternoon.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
