Ford Recalls Over 950,000 Vehicles


Last month we reported on a Toyota recall involving Takata airbags, and how this recall is affecting nearly all major auto manufacturers and nearly 37 million vehicles.

The next manufacturer to announce a recall due to these airbags is Ford. This recall involves more than 950,000 vehicles around the world. The model years under the recall range from 2004 to 2014 and cover 12 different models.

Vehicles recalled for passenger side inflators 2005-2011 Ford Mustang 2005-2006 Ford GT 2004-2011 Ford Ranger built in North America 2006-2011 Ford Fusion 2007-2010 Ford Edge 2006 Lincoln Zephyr 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX 2006-2011 Mercury Milan

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are a total of 19 manufacturers that are affected by the recall.

Additionally, each vehicle affected has a priority order in which it is being recalled based on age due to the risk of longer-term exposure to hot and humid conditions which make the airbags more susceptible to explosion.
