'Tis the season for more scams. The U.S. Postal Service is warning people this holiday season to be aware of an address change scam that can be of a concern to all who receive mail.
All a person needs is your name and address to change where your mail is sent. But there are ways you can prevent yourself from being a victim.
Ensure criminals don’t have easy access to your personal information such as picking up your mail or checking your mailbox on a daily basis.
Another way to protect your information is to ensure that you do not leave mail face-up in your vehicle. Either keep it face-down or hide it.
If you do receive a change of address verification form it could look like a piece of junk mail, so double check it. If it is a verification form, or any other type of mail from what appears to be the postal service, check with your local post office to ensure you are safe.
