Food Recall: Duncan Hines Cake Mix

Duncan Hines cake mixes are the next food item being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

After a sample tested positive for salmonella that may be linked to an outbreak currently being investigated by the FDA and CDC, several types of Duncan Hines cake mixes are being recalled. Each of the mixes under the recall were distributed and sold nationwide.

The mixes were all made during the same time period as the tested sample, and Conagra Brands, Duncan Hines’ parent company has initiated this recall out of caution.

So far, there have been five confirmed illnesses due to salmonella. Several reported eating cake at some point prior to becoming ill, however, the FDA is speculating that some of those who became ill ate the product raw.

What Mixes Are Being Recalled?

The mixes being recalled are Duncan Hines' Classic White, Signature Confetti Cake, Classic Butter Golden, and Classic Yellow. You can find the specific products being recalled in the table below.

What To Do

Those who purchased the items are being advised to not consume them and to return them to the place of purchase or throw them away.
