A New Show With A Taste Of Arizona At Super Bowl LII

This one is for all who are watching Super Bowl LII today. Normally it's either the U.S. Air Force's Thunderbirds, or the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels that make a grand flyover entrance at the Super Bowl. This year, neither team was available for the flyover.
For the first time, the Air Force's Heritage Flight Foundation flight team will perform the flyover during the opening ceremonies. In an interview with News 4 Tucson, KVOA at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Major Daniel Levy stated "This will be the first time Heritage Flight has ever taken part in the Super Bowl. We're honored and really thrilled to be a part of this historic demonstration of air power, showcasing the past, present, and future of the United States Air Force”.
The flyover will feature two A-10 Thunderbolts from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, an F-16 and a WWII era P-51 Mustang. The flyover is scheduled to occur right at the end of the National Anthem, when the word 'brave' is sung.
This proves challenging for the team since there are four very different planes, and not all can go the same speed, and the team must stay in a tight formation, at the same speed, and timed with the National Anthem.
The Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2010, that provids performances of historic aircraft ranging from WWII, to Vietnam-era blended with modern fighter and attack aircraft for public display. Its charitable mission is to make those planes available for events like this one. The flights are a living memorial to those who have served and are still serving. The flights are also used to help in recruitment and in increasing interest in aviation, not just for the Air Force, but for the aviation industry itself.
