On May 17, the Nevada Senate Committee on Natural Resources met in Carson City Nevada to discuss Assembly Joint Resolution 4. One point of note that was proposed during this meeting that should concern Page, AZ residents was the draining of Lake Powell and destroying the Glen Canyon dam.
The Glen Canyon Institute, a Salt Lake City based non-profit, argued for draining Lake Powell. Their stance on Lake Powell is that it is damaging to the environment and by draining it, they would be able to save Lake Mead.
The resolution made its way through the lower house, but was not passed by the Senate.
The Glen Canyon dam has come under fire many times over the years, the charge being led by various organizations like the Sierra Club, and the Glen Canyon Institute.
